The Africa fashion Reception Dazzles Paris’ Fashion Scene

It was a weekend of razzmatazz and glamour as Legendary Gold Limited in collaboration with the African Union and the Nigerian Ministry of Trade and Investment presented the Africa Fashion Reception 2014 at the prestigious Salle Wagram which is located in the exclusive and very Porsche 17th district of Paris.

AFR-739-XLThe event gathered a very exclusive French and African audience led by the Nigerian Minister of Trade and Investment who was represented by his permanent secretary, his Excellency Ambassador Abdukadir Musa and the Nigerian Ambassador to France who was represented by Davidson Ikemefuna .

zzz - audience-001The event was also attended by the Ambassadors of Rwanda, Ethiopia, Cameroun & Cape Verde to France. Also in attendance was the Ethiopian Ambassador to UNESCO and representatives of African Ambassadors from over 15 countries. Her Excellency, Ambassador Nimate Akanbi, Nigerian Ambassador to the Netherlands graced the event.
Others that made the guests list include the Vice President of World Fashion Organization – Europe, Piercarlo Borgogeli, French politician François Durpaire and the top Italian buying group Camera Moda Buyer. Also in attendance are lots of presses led by Viola Bisiach of Italian Vogue.
All guests arrived to a lavish cocktail by one of the event’s partners, Nicolas Feuillate, the French number one Champagne brand.
Lexy Mojo Eyes, President of Legendary Gold Limited and CEO of Africa Fashion Reception kicked off the evening with a welcome address. His Excellency, Jacque Kabale, Ambassador of Rwanda to France gave a short speech on behalf of all African Ambassadors in France.

A short key note address was delivered by Ambassador Abdukadir Musa on behalf of the Nigerian Minister of Trade & Investment.

The 2014 European edition of the AFR featured an exhibition area and the collection of 24 leading African designers from 24 African countries. Fashion Runway: Grace Wallace Live From Vlisco Fashion Show in Cotonou, Benin

Since 1846 Vlisco has been designing and producing colorful fashion fabrics that form an essential part of the lively West and Central African culture.

Vlisco’s mission is to provide high-end fashion brand for women in Africa. However, the increasing imitation of Vlisco designs offering low-end printed fabrics prompted a strategy change in 2006 which was implemented in mid-2007. Some aspects of the strategy change include more emphasis on design, the introduction of Vlisco boutiques, quarterly collections with pre-determined themes, image campaigns, and consumer brand innovation. Presently, there are three boutiques in: Cotonou (Benin), Lome (Togo) and Abijdan (Cote D’Ivoire).
Togolese designer with Nigerian origin, Grace Wallace, presented her collection during the Annual Vlisco Fashion Show in Cotonou. Here is the collection that she presented in Cotonou:
